About
“100 Faces of Marin” Book Project
In 1991, Marin native and career journalist Peter Anderson wrote a book titled “100 Faces of Marin.” The author wrote, edited and published the coffee table-style volume as a labor of love honoring the place of his birth. He interviewed and wrote all of the subjects featured in the book; Marin photographer Cathy Shine took all of the photos.
The latest installment of the book goes on sale in 2004 and will feature interviews by Peter Anderson and portraits by Reggie Henkart. The project is being managed by Suzanne Dunwell. Print and Web site production by Jennifer and Gabe Anderson.
A portion of each book purchase is donated to Roots of Peace.
About the Author: Peter Anderson
Peter Rafael Anderson was the first child born in Greenbrae in 1947. After graduating from St. Patrick's College in Menlo Park in 1969, he entered California politics, organizing two U.S. Senate races . From 1976 through 1980, he wrote a Sacramento-based column for Pacific Sun in Mill Valley; in 1978, he became a daily columnist for The Sacramento Union, covering an array of controversial issues, humorous musings and celebrity interviews; in 1985, he returned to Marin to write a similar daily column for the Marin Independent Journal.
In 1990, Peter wrote the first edition of "100 Faces of Marin.” The new 2004 version reflects the changes which have occurred in Marin the past 14 years, and the book profiles many of the new faces who continue to make The County such a unique place to live.
From 1990 through 2004, Peter has worked successfully as a freelance writer penning personal biographies, editing business newsletters, engaging in political campaigns and social causes, and working as an administrative assistant to former Marin Assemblyman Bill Bagley (now with the Nossaman law firm in San Francisco).
Peter and his ex-wife Kathleen Campbell, a book editor, have two adult sons -- Gabe (a Vassar graduate who with his wife and fellow Vassar grad Jen is responsible for this book's graphic design and layout) and Peter (a senior at the University of Arizona who has aspirations for a career in writing). As a single father residing in Pacheco Valle, Peter's greatest joy in life was raising his two sons in the same kind of idyllic atmosphere that was his childhood landscape.
